In March, Book Club will be discussing Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, published in 1932.

Far in the future, the World Controllers have created the ideal society. Through clever use of genetic engineering, brainwashing and recreational sex and drugs, all its members are happy consumers. Bernard Marx seems alone harbouring an ill-defined longing to break free. A visit to one of the few remaining Savage Reservations, where the old, imperfect life still continues, may be the cure for his distress...

Huxley's ingenious fantasy of the future sheds a blazing light on the present and is considered to be his most enduring masterpiece.

(Book available on Book Depository, Amazon and Kindle)

The Book Club meets once a month on a Thursday evening (usually the 3rd Thursday of the month) in the home of one of the Book Club members. It is a relaxed and informal gathering, and a great chance for those who enjoy reading to get together over a glass of wine and a light snack to chat about the book.

The Book Club is for BASS and ANZA members and new members are always welcome. If you would like to join the Book Club, please contact Clare or Suzi at anzabass.bookclub@gmail.com
