The Queen's Birthday Ball

In 2016 BASS collaborated with the British Chamber of Commerce in Korea to make the Queen’s Birthday Ball bigger and better than ever.  The secret theme, unveiled on the night, was Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, with Willy Wonka himself making a guest appearance to introduce the evening and get everyone in the party mood.  The event took place on 4th June at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, and thanks to the generosity of the sponsors and guests, a significant amount of money was raised for our chosen charity.

As 2016 is also the year in which Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 90th birthday, we were also honoured to have as one of our “guests” a very lifelike image of the lady herself to pose for photographs!

The evening began with a champagne reception followed by a delicious five course meal, served with fine wines and a free bar all evening.  Each guest was given a high-quality goody bag, and there were some wonderful prizes to be had in the raffle and silent auction. Fantastic entertainment was provided by Korean-British singer Sophie Pae, live band Pentasonic, and to round off the evening, a set with DJ Fenner, all of whom had the guests on their feet on the dance floor.

BASS is delighted that proceeds from the evening will be donated to Angels’ Haven which provides homes in Seoul for those with intellectual and physical disabilities.  Specifically, the funds raised will pay for a Café for their residents which will be named after BASS.
